Our Elders

The Lord Jesus Christ is the sole Head of His church; He is our Chief Shepherd and Overseer. The Lord rules over His flock through His Word and Spirit, and the Scriptures are clear that each local church is to be under the spiritual leadership of a plural body of Biblically-qualified men known as “elders,” “overseers,” and “pastors” (each of these titles refers to the same office).

These men have authority to shepherd God’s flock, but they must rule in a spirit of submission to Christ and to one another. Our elders fully subscribe to The Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689 as an accurate summary of their interpretation of Holy Scripture, and each conscientiously affirms their agreement with the theological position papers ratified by our associations of churches. At present our church has one elder, and until the Lord raises up more elders he is accountable not only to the membership of our local church, but also regularly seeks the counsel of an accountability council comprised of several pastors from within our national association of churches.
